Time for Fall Vegtable Planting
Its time to begin thinking of fall vegetables. Seeds for fall crops of broccoli and cauliflower should be sown in containers by the 3rd to 4th week in July. Late crops of squash, beans and cucumbers can be direct sown through the end of July.

Scientific name: Agrilus planipennis
Description: Adults are roughly 3/8 to 5/8 inch long with metallic green wing covers and a copperty red purple abdomen.
Host: Ash Tree -Fraxinus SP.
Symptoms: Larvae feed in the phloem and outer sapwood,producing galleries that eventually girdle and kill branches and entire tree. Adult bettle leave distinctive D-shape exit holes in the outer bark of the branches trucnk.
Scientific name: Plantago major
Description: is a perennial plant that grows best in moist areas with full sun or partial shade and compacted soil. Its fibrous root system is primarily found in the top 18 inches of soil. The smooth, oval leaf blades are 2 to 6 inches in length with five to seven ribs that parallel the leaf margins. The leaf veins converge at the base into a broad petiole (leaf stem) that may be up to 5 inches in length. The upright flower stalk terminates in a long cylindrical spike head that may be 2 to 6 inches in length. Seeds are small (1/16 inch in diameter), reddish brown, and angular.
